Last week Governor Godswill Obot Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State relieved some members of his cabinets(Some commissioners and board chairmen) of their duties. The Governor on Tuesday 29th April 2014 sent to the State House of assembly the names of people nominated to fill some vacant positions in his cabinet. According to our source, the governor stated that the nomination was in line with the provisions of sec 192 of the Nigerian Constitution. The nominees are: 1.Mr. Ante Okpo 2.Engr. Ignatius Edet. The nominees are however awaiting screening by the House which is scheduled to hold Tomorrow 30th April 2014. Congratulations in advance to the nominees.
125 students from Nigeria who have received full scholarships from the government will be attending college in Boston this Fall (August/September). They will be attending the Northeastern University , My Fox Boston reports. Yesterday Monday 26th May 2014, 53 of the 125 students arrived in Boston, with Special Adviser to President Jonathan on Niger Delta Affairs Kingsley Kuku . Showing their patriotism, they wore green-and-white scarves that represented the Nigerian flag. According to a release, the children came from deprived regions of the country. They are required to complete a summer bridge term at Northeastern before they join the University’s sophomore class. The students of Adamawa state University are in fear after they have received several letters over the past two weeks, from who they believe are boko haram.Initially they felt it was a prank until the latest letter which was attached with a pound of flesh and dripping blood. A source has told SaharaReporters that the letters are believed to be real, coming directly from Boko Haram. The students are now living in fear.Most of those who use the only hostel available to men have not slept there over the past weekend. The hostel, also known as ‘Barde Hall,was nearly empty of students beginning on Saturday evening. Barde Hall, is also popularly known as "256" by many in the student body. It is a popular ‘hang out’ spot for many of the students attending. It is also seen as a safe space, and resting place, that normally has scores of students milling around outside during the academic year.
