The Nigerian christian comunity in Los Angelos is organising a Service of Songs and Memorial service for the late gospel singe Kefee, today June 18th. In addition, the remains of Kefee who passed on July 13th, has arrived Nigeria, ahead of a burial which will likely hold this month. Reports are that her body arrived the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos Tuesday evening, June 17th on a Delta Airline aircraft. Rest in Peace beautiful Kefee

Suspected Boko Haram men this evening attacked a football viewing center in Damaturu, Yobe State during a live football match between Brazil and Mexico . The sect men reportedly hauled explosives at the viewing center, injuring several people. Injured people were rushed to nearby hospitals. Yobe state Police commissioner told AFP that they have deployed policemen to the scene and will give details on the incident later... Update: Seven people have been reported killed in the blast

The Nigerian Defence Headquarters in a statement today said that a wanted terror kingpin has been arrested among those apprehended in Abia State on Sunday. The suspected Boko Haram members were arrested along the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway by soldiers attached to the 144 Battalion of the Nigerian Army, Asa in the Ukwa West Local Government Area on Sunday. General Chris Olukolade in a statement said a terror kingpin in the list of wanted terrorists of security forces in Nigeria have been detected in the ongoing screening of the 486 suspects napped while travelling in over 33 Hiace Hummer buses at night along Enugu-Port Harcourt expressway last Sunday. “So far other security agencies including the para- military have joined the screening exercise to ascertain the status of the remaining suspects. Those identified as possible security risk or illegal immigrants are expected to be identified for further action.” statement reads.

Family of the late South African President Nelson Mandela ended the traditional mourning period for him on Sunday with a cleansing ceremony and burning of their black mourning clothes. Speaking on behalf of the family, Daludumo Mtirara said on Monday that a cleansing ceremony was performed in Qunu, where Mandela was buried and traditional beet and meat served during the ceremony. He said since Mandela’s death, his wife Graca Machel and ex-wife Winnie Madikizela-Mandela had been wearing black and not been allowed to make public appearances as a sign of mourning. Mtirara said the clan has formally freed the late icon’s two widows from the mourning period, and they are now free to serve the people of South Africa and the continent without any hindrance. According to a report by Guardian , not less than 486 suspected Boko Haram members including eight women were arrested by the military personnel of the 144 battalion of the Nigerian Army with base at Asa in Ukwa West council of Abia State. Abia State Information Commissioner, Chief Eze Chikamnayo, who took some reporters to the military camp yesterday to see the suspects said they were arrested around 3:00 a.m. on Sunday along Enugu-Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway at Arongwa area called Imo Gate, which is a boundary between Abia and Rivers states. He said that the suspects whose ages were from 15 years were traveling on 35 buses from undisclosed northern states to the South South.  He said that they claimed to be going to search for jobs, adding that two of the buses later escaped. LONDON (Reuters) - PayPal is entering 10 new countries this week, including Nigeria, providing online payment alternatives for consumers via mobile phones or PCs in markets often blighted by financial fraud. Rupert Keeley, the executive in charge of the EMEA region of PayPal, the payments unit of eBay Inc, said in an interview on Monday the expansion would bring the number of countries it serves to 203. Starting on Tuesday, consumers in Nigeria, which has 60 million users and has Africa's largest population, along with nine other markets in sub- Saharan Africa, Eastern Europe and Latin America will be able to make payments through PayPal. "PayPal has been going through a period of reinvention, refreshing many of its services to make them easier to use on mobile (phones), allowing us to expand into fast-developing markets," Keeley said.

Eight members of the Boko Haram were yesterday killed in a village near Chibok town leadership news reports.The incident occured when operatives of the Nigeria Vigilante Group engaged the armed insurgents in a deadly shootout during an early morning attack, witnesses said. The gunmen, had crept upon the sleeping residents of Kwarangilam village of Chibok local government, with the intention of carrying out another massacre, but were shocked to be encountered by shootings from the operatives of the vigilantes who laid in counter ambush.

The Chairman, Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, Dr. Sam Amadi, has raised the alarm that any attempt made to suspend the planned review of the electricity tariff regime will result in the death of the power sector. According to reports from The Punch newspaper,Dr.Amadi said that the tariff had been spelt out in a plan covering 2012 to 2015, which was published by the commission. He stressed that from the plan, there were stipulated tariffs for every year tied to three major milestones – quantity of power supply, foreign exchange and inflation trends. On the call by the organised labour and other stakeholders to halt the planned increase in the electricity tariff, Amadi said it was unnecessary as the people canvassing the suspension had no good understanding of the tariff system. “If we suspend the review of the tariff, we will only be killing the sector. Those that are saying we should suspend the review lack the capacity to understand the way the tariff system

It has been 100 days since the mysterious disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370. However, Malaysian authorities are undeterred by the fact that the plane is yet to be found. They have vowed to continue searching for the jet and the 239 passengers who were on board, USA TODAY reports. “This search effort is unprecedented in sheer scale and complexity…we reaffirm our commitment with renewed vigor to locate the missing MH370. We will, with the grace of God, find this missing plane and so with it begins the process of healing,” said Transport Minister Hishammuddin Hussein.

Zelmyra and Herbert Fisher broke  The Guinness World Record  for the longest marriage. They were married on May 13, 1924. In 2008, they earned the record for longest marriage at 84 years. In 2011, Herbert passed away at 105, and a few years later in 2013, Zelmyra followed at 105 years old as well. When Herbert passed, the couple had been married for 87 years. After sustaining severe head injuries in a skiing accident on Dec 19 2013, Michael Schumacher was put into an artificially-induced coma to help reduce swelling in his brain . His family was told  by doctors it was unlikely he will ever wakeup.Five months later, the seven-time F1 champion is no longer in a coma and has left the hospital ..According to his management company 'Michael has left the CHU Grenoble to continue his long phase of rehabilitation. He is not in a coma anymore.The family also wishes to thank all the people who have sent Michael all the many good wishes. We are sure it helped him. For the future we ask for understanding that his further rehabilitation will take place away from the public eye." In March after being advised to pull him out of life support, his wife refused to give up and reportedly spent £10million on building a fully equipped medical suite in their family home so he  can leave the hospital and stay

Pope Francis is causing quite a stir for his refusal to ride in bullet-proof Popemobiles during public appearances. The 77-year-old pontiff says he detests being restricted in a “sardine can” because it prevents him from interacting with regular people, The Telegraph reports. Speaking on the concerns expressed for his safety, he said: “It’s true that anything could happen, but let’s face it, at my age I don’t have much to lose. I know what could happen, but it is in God’s hands… I remember in Brazil, they’d provided for me an enclosed Popemobile, but I cannot greet the people and tell them I love them inside a sardine can, even if it is made of glass. Aminu Sadik Ogwuche A month ago , Aminu Sadik Ogwuche,  the man who allegedly orchestrated the April 14th Nyanya bombings that claimed over 74 lives, escaped to Sudan. However, he was subsequently arrested following an international red alert issued by Interpol. And now, the Sudanese government is reportedly refusing to  cooperate with Nigerian officials in their effort to extradite Ogwuche, Vanguard reports.  Reports state that one of the reasons for Sudan’s refusal to cooperate may be because the country’s president,  Omar al-Bashir,   has no bilateral agreement with any country in the world on extradition of criminals.
