Last week   Governor Godswill Obot Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State   relieved some members of his cabinets(Some commissioners and board chairmen) of their duties. The Governor on Tuesday 29th April 2014 sent to the State House of assembly the names of people nominated to fill some vacant positions in his cabinet. According to our source, the governor stated that the nomination was in line with the provisions of   sec 192 of the Nigerian Constitution. The nominees are: 1.Mr. Ante Okpo 2.Engr. Ignatius Edet. FORMER PRESIDENT JONATHAN APPEALS TO SOUTH EAST TO ACCEPT PETER OBI'S CANDIDACY AS VICE PRESIDENT

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has appealed to the leadership and members of the Peoples Democratic Party in the South East to support the decision of the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to run for presidency with Peter Obi. Jonathan made the appeal in a statement on Sunday, one day after leaders of the party in the zone said they were not consulted before Mr Obi, a former governor of Anambra State was chosen by Abubakar as his running mate.
