Nigerian team wins three gold medals at the African Youth Games
Nigeria continued with its remarkable feat at the African Youth Games and over the weekend won three gold medals in their respective events.
The competition which is taking place in Gaborone,#Botswana has seen Nigeria emerge as one of the leading teams at the event.
Chika Joy #Amalaha set Nigeria rolling,winning the gold medal in the girls 58kg weightlifting event.
She went on to create an African record in the competition when she lifted 87kg,only for her to set another African record in the same category when she lifted 102kg in the clean and jerk category.
Nigeria's second gold medal came from Emmanuel Inemo Appah who won the 56kg boys weightlifting event.
Another gold record came in from the Team Event of #Badminton,which saw Nigeria beat South Africa 3-1 to win the gold medal.
In the football event,the Nigerian under 15 boys defeated Botswana 2-0 and drew 1-1 with Mali on Saturday.
It is looking good for Team Nigeria at the event,with hopes of winning the championship still alive,as they have qualified for the finals of some of their events.
The competition which is in its second edition will climax this Saturday in Gaborone.
