2014 Africa Movie Academy Awards: Red Carpet Photos


The 10th Anniversary of The Africa Movie Academy Awards went down last Saturday, May 24, 2014 at the Gabriel Okara Cultural Centre in Bayelsa. Some of those that attended were Rita Dominic, Hollywood actor Daniel Glover, Richard Mofe Damijo, Jackie Appiah, Lydia Forson, Zainab Balogun and more.

The Nigeria Film and Video Censorship Board, (NFVCB), has banned the widely publicised and internationally acclaimed film, Half of A Yellow Sun which has been premiered in Nigeria. But reliable sources told our correspondent Abuja that the film promoters are making frantic efforts to remove the offensive sections and get the film approved. Sources said that the film, an adaptation of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s novel is being stopped from getting into the market due to parts that tend to whip up tribal sentiments, especially on issues that led to the Nigerian civil war. President Jonathan offer amnesty to Boko Haram

Minister of Youth Development, Mr. Boni Haruna, on Thursday disclosed that President Goodluck Jonathan has announced amnesty for members of the Boko Haram sect as parts of his administration’s youths-friendly programmes and policies. Haruna disclosed this while giving an overview of youth’s position in the present administration’s transformation agenda at a special event tagged “A day with young leaders of Nigeria” to mark the nation’s Democracy Day in Abuja. The minister said series of integration programmes have been lined up for members of the sect who would surrender their arms and embrace peace. He therefore called on them to embrace the government’s gesture.
