Governor Akpabio Nominates new commissioners

Last week   Governor Godswill Obot Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State   relieved some members of his cabinets(Some commissioners and board chairmen) of their duties. The Governor on Tuesday 29th April 2014 sent to the State House of assembly the names of people nominated to fill some vacant positions in his cabinet. According to our source, the governor stated that the nomination was in line with the provisions of   sec 192 of the Nigerian Constitution. The nominees are: 1.Mr. Ante Okpo 2.Engr. Ignatius Edet. The nominees are however awaiting screening  by the House which is scheduled to hold Tomorrow 30th April 2014. Congratulations in advance to the nominees.

Immigration Repatriates 612 Illegal Migrants From Akwa Ibom

The Akwa Ibom command of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) says it has repatriated 612 irregular African nationals to their countries of origin in the last five months. The state Controller of Immigration Service, Alhaji Abdullahi Garba, said this in an interview in Uyo on Tuesday. Abdullahi explained that the presence of the illegal migrants was a threat to the internal security of the state in particular and Nigeria in general. He said that the affected migrants were mainly nationals from Niger, Cameroun, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Guinea, Gambia and Togo. “They were shown the way out for lack of valid travel documents and substantive means of livelihood,” Abdullahi said.

The dredging machine whose major components include a 12mm metallic pan, 10 inch sand sorting pump, 10 cylinders Mercedes Benz engine, self loader sand sucking pump, blaster pump which helps to soften the sand, a sand cutter, another four cylinders 608 Mercedez Benz engine for the pump, a dashboard for electrical indication and pipes that carry the sand from the water to its place of deposit.
